Assign users to vacant matter team roles on a matter team and assign all incomplete and future tasks to the users. Tasks created on a matter without a user are assigned to the matter owner. In this image, there are three tasks assigned to the matter owner, User User. We want to reassign these tasks to different users with matter team roles.
Note that completed tasks are not assigned to the new user. Completed tasks remain assigned to the user who completed them.
1. Navigate to the matter team on this matter. This team has unassigned attorney and paralegal roles because a user wasn't assigned these roles when the matter was created, and the matter plan has tasks assigned to these roles. On the unassigned role, click Assign User.
2. In the User field, select the new user who will fill this role.
3. Optionally, you can check "Reassign existing tasks associated with this role" to reassign all existing tasks on the matter to the new user. This is for tasks that were created and assigned to the matter owner when this role was vacant. If you do not check this, only future tasks added to the matter will be assigned to the selected user.
4. Click Confirm.
5. Check the tasks on the matter to see the new assigned user. Note that completed tasks are not assigned to the new user. Completed tasks remain assigned to the user who completed them.
