Create a role with the Add Party button

  1. Navigate to the Roles tab on an intake or matter
  2. Click Add Party

  3.  In the "Add New Party" sidebar that opens, fill out the important details:
    • Search for and select a Party in the Party field
      • Create a party directly from this field if necessary (see below for instructions)
    • Select the Role Category. A Role Category is the overall definition of a role in a case, such as a family member, doctor, or healthcare facility. 
    • Optional values:
      • Select a Role Subcategory. A Role Subcategory is the exact definition of a role in a case, such as an ex-husband, a neurologist, or a hospital.
        • Note: some categories do not have role subcategories
      • Select any Additional Traits. Additional traits include any further involvement or details about a role that a category doesn't include.
  4. Click Save

  5. The new role will now be shown in the component, alongside all other parties connected to the intake or matter.

pasted_image_0__5_.png Any role you add to an intake carries over to the matter record, so you can maintain a library of everyone involved with a case across the intake and matter lifecycle in Litify.

Create a Party and a Role

If you need to create a role but find that the party does not yet exist in Litify, you can easily create both at once.

  1. Navigate to the Roles tab on an intake or matter
  2. Click Add Party

  3. In the sidebar, click the button next to the Party search field
  4. Select whether you are creating a Litify Individual or Litify Business party
  5. Click Continue
  6. Enter any information that you have about the party (including any required fields)
  7. Click Save
  8. Finish filling out the details for the role, such as Role Category
  9. Click Save
