A referral expires when the handling firm does not take action on the case in the time limit you set. Follow these steps to send this case to another firm.
1. Locate the expired case on your outbound referrals page. The Handler tab shows where the case expired. Click Requires Action.
2. The Case Details page opens.
a. Click Choose a New Firm to open the "Choose a Handling Firm" window, complete it, and send the referral to a new firm as you would any new referral.
b. Click Give Up to end this referral. This will change the case status to Cancelled.
You can send a referral to a new firm every time a case expires or is declined.
