There are a few crucial upgrade steps required following the installation of Matters + Intakes v23.3.

Permissions Changes

Reminder: New users must be assigned the Litify Apex Class Permission Set. See this article for more information.

Object Permissions Required to Create Referrals with "Refer Out" and "New Referral"

  • Users who send Referrals using the Refer Out Litify Action or the Litify New Referral record creation flow require the following object permissions:
    • Referral: READ, CREATE, and EDIT
    • Referral Transaction: READ, CREATE, and EDIT
  • These object permissions are already present in the following standard Litify permission sets and profiles:
    • Permission Sets
      • Litify Power User
      • Litify Referrals User
    • Profiles:
      • Litify Attorney
      • Litify Intakes Manager
      • Litify Partner
      • Litify Power User
      • Litify Standard User
      • System Administrator
    • Firms which do not use these packaged permission sets or profiles must add these new custom permissions to their own custom profiles or permission sets for users who should be able to Refer Out Intakes and Matters or create a New Referral
  • Users who send Referrals using the Refer Out Litify Action or the Litify New Referral record creation flow will now be able to attach documents to new outgoing Referrals at the time they create and send Referrals

New Custom Permissions Required for Referral Documents

  • Two new custom permissions have been added to control whether users can use the new Access Documents screen on incoming (handling firm) and outgoing (originating firm) Referrals:
    • Litify Action Access Outgoing Referral Documents Permission
      • Makes the Access Documents button visible in the Litify Actions component from the Referral record page on existing outgoing Referrals
      • Allows users to add new documents to the Referral up until the Referral is signed up by a handling firm
      • Allows users to remove documents from the Referral up until the Referral is investigated by a handling firm
      • Allows users to download documents from a Referral, or save documents into Salesforce Files
    • Litify Action Access Incoming Referral Documents Permission
      • Makes the Access Documents button visible in the Litify Actions component from the Referral record page on incoming Referrals after the Referral is "investigated"
      • Makes the Access Documents button visible in the Litify Actions component from the Intake record page on Intakes created from incoming Referrals
      • Makes the Access Documents button visible in the Litify Actions component from the Matter record page on Matters created from incoming Referrals
      • Allows users to download documents from a Referral, or save documents into Salesforce Files
  • These new custom permissions have been added to the following standard Litify permission sets:
    • Litify Power User
    • Litify Intakes Agent
    • Firms which do not use these packaged permission sets must add one or both of these new custom permissions to their own custom profiles or permission sets

Page Layout Changes

Litify recommends removing several deprecated fields from active page layouts for the Referral and Referral Transaction objects. These fields are no longer being used to track fee agreement information, and data from these fields will no longer be accurate regarding new Referrals:

  • Referral
    • litify_pm__Agreement_Name__c
    • litify_pm__Agreement_Type__c
    • litify_pm__Suggested_Percentage_fee__c
  • Referral Transaction
    • litify_pm__Accepted_fee__c
    • litify_pm__Agreement_Name__c
    • litify_pm__Suggested_fee__c

Litify recommends adding the following new field to your custom page layout for the Referral object, to surface the number of documents associated with an existing Referral. This value will be updated with each sync of the Referral record:

  • Referral
    • litify_pm__Document_Count__c

Support Tab

The "Support" tab which previously redirected to the Litify Success Community has been removed. Users should instead visit help.litify.com directly in their browser.

Firms upgrading to v23.3 are encouraged to delete this tab from their orgs, as it now contains no information.

To delete the tab, navigate from Salesforce Setup Tabs and find the section titled Visualforce Tabs. Click Delete next to the Support tab.
